To university by electric car

Some people already know the routine: commuting by bus from Goslar to Clausthal and back again. But it would be much quicker by car. This spring, however, that will be history. Not for long, and then two electric vehicles with up to eight seats will be made available for you, but also for anyone else who is interested in commuting between the various locations.

This is made possible by an initial two-year cooperation between the ISSE, the Center for Digital Technologies (DIGIT), the company Intrasol from Nordhausen and the district of Goslar. The idea behind this project is to use charging points at three different locations as sustainable mobility stations. These will initially be at the TU Clausthal canteen, at the Goslar district building near the train station and above the DIGIT at the TU Clausthal Energy Campus in Goslar. "One of the aims is to make a contribution to a sustainable university," says Professor Andreas Rausch, Head of the Institute for Software and Systems Engineering (ISSE) and Chairman of the Board of the new DIGIT research center at Clausthal University of Technology. And it works, because the stations are not only used to charge the two electric car-sharing vehicles, they are also the starting point for other innovative reuse and repair concepts that can be researched by students and scientists at Clausthal University of Technology.

Mobility and sustainability are not the only advantages of this project: "The project could also be of interest to senior citizens in the future. Students could, for example, take on driving jobs for them and thus get an attractive part-time job," says Sebastian Kupfer, Managing Partner of the Nordhausen-based company Intrasol.

What do you think of this project? Would a part-time job where you fulfill driving requests be an option? Feel free to send an email to blog@tu-clausthal.de!

As soon as there is more information about the project, I will report on it.
