It's supposed to be 20 degrees on Sunday, so it's time to dust off the walking boots and head out. This time it's along the Hirschler, Jägersbleeker and Pfauenteich ponds.
The route is around five kilometers long and will take you about an hour. The starting and finishing point is near the Pulverhaus, which you can see in the picture. You can also easily park there. From the starting point, keep left and walk past the Pulverhaus. If you follow the paved path, you will soon find yourself between the Middle and Upper Peacock Ponds. If you turn left, you can see the Tanne factory in the distance. During the National Socialist era, explosives and ammunition were manufactured there - it was the third largest factory of its kind at the time.
Now you keep going straight ahead. The route is very relaxed as there are hardly any inclines and you are surrounded by trees. After a while, the trees thin out and the Jägersbleeker Teich pond appears on the right. On the other side, you can look down on the Widerwaage. It was built to improve the conditions for the ditches that lead to the pits, among other things. At the end of the pond is the Weppner Hütte, where you will find stamp point 127 for the Harz hiking pin.
Once you have left the pond and the hut behind you, follow the path and keep to the right. This will take you almost all the way around the Jägersbleeker Teich pond and then towards the Hirschler Teich pond. The path leads through the forest again and some time later you can already see the water shimmering through the trees. Hirschler Teich was originally created by miners as part of the Upper Harz Water Regal and is therefore a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today it is used as a drinking water pond for the town of Clausthal-Zellerfeld. You can also see the peacock ponds from here. Now follow the path and after a while you will see the Pulverhaus and the end of our route.
And now: Have fun hiking ?
